Highway 88 to 206 to 207 is a great alternate route when Highway 50 has heavy traffic, accidents, construction, or snow closures. Highway 50, between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe, is congested primarily during these times:
All snowstorms, before skiing, after skiing, Friday afternoon, and Sunday afternoon.

Helpful Route Planning Hints for Getting to South Lake Tahoe:
In Nevada, Highway 50 continues along the shore of Lake Tahoe, and is the scenic tourist route to South Lake Tahoe from Reno. Highway 50 twists and turns for 20 miles along the curvy contours of Lake Tahoe. This route can make for slow traffic, especially during peak hours through high elevations with snowy roads, and thus can be treacherous, slow or tedious. When roads are snowy, or for a change of scenery, continue on 395 southbound a mile past Carson City and Highway 50 to Highway 206, also called Jack's Valley Road. Turn right on Jack's Valley Road. Continue about 10 miles to Highway 207, (Kingsbury Grade). Turn right on Kingsbury Grade. Continue about 10 miles to the very top, turning left on Tramway where you will see signs for Heavenly. Turn Right on Bonnie Court, the home is on the right. The house address is clearly visible on the front of 668 Bonnie Court.
